The Multilateral Chamber of Commerce and Cooperation Israel Ibero-America (now the Israel Ibero-America Chamber of Commerce), together with the Costa Rica Support and Promotion Office (OSPCR), organized a meeting in March 2020 between H.E. Mr. Jordi Gallardo, Minister of Economy of the Principality of Andorra, and H.E. Ms. Victoria Hernández Mora, Minister of Economy of Costa Rica. The meeting took place on the occasion of the first official visit by the Government of Andorra to the Republic of Costa Rica.
Trade opportunities between Andorra and Costa Rica
The meeting assessed the economic exchange opportunities that could be developed between the two States.
The parties took into account the geostrategic location of the Republic of Costa Rica and the Principality of Andorra to promote trade, using both countries as gateways to the markets of the Central American region and the European region.
Two gateways: Central America and Europe
Andorra is a sovereign State located in the Pyrenees, between Spain and France. Although it is not part of the European Union, it has a customs union agreement and a monetary agreement with the EU that allow it to use the euro as its official currency.
Costa Rica, for its part, is a member of the Central American Integration System (SICA), the institutional framework for regional integration of the Central American countries.
