The Israel Ibero-America Chamber of Commerce (CILIB) announces that it will resume its activities on January 3, 2027. Since late 2024, the Chamber has kept its public agenda on hold. During this time, it focused its resources and its team on the emergency response in Israel.
A decision taken in the face of the emergency
The terrorist attack of October 7, 2023 and the war that followed changed the priorities of many institutions linked to Israel. CILIB was one of them. The Chamber was founded in Israel in 2019 to bring together companies and institutions from Israel and Ibero-America. In this context, it understood that its first responsibility was to stand by the people affected by the conflict.
That commitment began in the very first hours. On October 9, 2023, the Chamber condemned the October 7 terrorist attack. A few days later, when many airlines suspended their flights to Israel, it worked on organizing a humanitarian flight to Cyprus or Romania for tourists who needed to leave the country.
Explaining the conflict in Ibero-America
In the following weeks, CILIB President David O. Abraham explained the conflict in Costa Rican media and in the talk “A perspective on the Israel-Hamas conflict” at Universidad Latina in Costa Rica. The aim was to provide historical and geopolitical context to Ibero-American public opinion.
Throughout 2024 the Chamber maintained its ongoing institutional commitments. Then, at the end of that year, it decided to pause its public agenda and devote its resources and its team to the emergency response.
What has been built since 2019 remains in place
The pause has not interrupted the ties the Chamber has built since its founding:
- the collaboration agreement with the Central American Educational and Cultural Coordination (SE-CECC/SICA);
- the memorandum of agreement with Costa Rica’s Ombudsman’s Office (Defensoría de los Habitantes);
- the letter of understanding with the National Directorate of Community Development (DINADECO);
- the agreements with the National Technical University (UTN) and the Ibero-American Federation of Young Entrepreneurs (FIJE);
- its membership in the Ibero-American Association of Chambers of Commerce (AICO).
All of them can be consulted on the agreements and partnerships page.
What resumes on January 3, 2027
From that date, CILIB will resume:
- Foreign trade services for companies in Israel and Ibero-America, including Smart Export and business matchmaking sessions.
- The CILIB Academy, with its master’s programmes, technical courses and programmes for young people and schools.
- Membership for new members, at its three membership levels.
- Its institutional agenda of meetings, missions and cooperation with governments, organizations and chambers in the region.
The return coincides with the launch of the Chamber’s new website, available in Spanish, English, Portuguese and Hebrew.
Thank you
The Chamber thanks its members, partners and friendly institutions for their understanding and support during this period. For any questions about the Chamber’s return, please write to infocenter@ccilib.org.
