In July 2023, the Multilateral Chamber of Commerce and Cooperation Israel Ibero-America (now the Israel Ibero-America Chamber of Commerce), known by its acronym CILIB, announced an agreement with the Costa Rican Evangelical Alliance Federation (FAEC) and the Center for Jewish Studies (CEJAPIM). The agreement aims to promote in Costa Rica a university extension program entitled “Diploma in Jewish Studies.”
A diploma program accredited by Bar-Ilan University in Israel
The Diploma in Jewish Studies will be directed and accredited by the Bruckner Institute of Bar-Ilan University in Israel, one of the leading academic institutions in the field of Jewish studies. The program will be offered in Costa Rica through CEJAPIM.
Bar-Ilan University, founded in 1955, has its main campus in Ramat Gan, in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
The diploma program seeks to provide high-quality academic training on topics related to Jewish culture, history and religion, and to promote greater understanding and appreciation of Judaism in the region.
Educational cooperation with Costa Rica’s evangelical communities
The agreement between FAEC, CILIB and CEJAPIM places special emphasis on the inclusion of Costa Rica’s evangelical institutions and communities. Its goal is to facilitate access to the Diploma in Jewish Studies within these communities and to provide tools for the training and cultural enrichment of their members.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to education and intercultural dialogue, and underscores the importance of cooperation between different sectors and communities.
Intercultural dialogue between Costa Rica and Israel
The program will not only contribute to the academic development of its participants: it will also strengthen relations between Costa Rican evangelical communities and Jewish institutions, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.
The initiative is considered an important step in fostering knowledge and cultural integration in Costa Rica, and an example of how international collaboration can generate positive impacts at the local level.
CILIB, together with FAEC and CEJAPIM, is committed to the success of this project and to the continuous improvement of the training tools available to the communities involved. The agreement represents a step forward in promoting intercultural knowledge and strengthening relations between Costa Rica and Israel.
