Representatives of UTN, the Chamber and OSPCR meeting for the cooperation agreement

On August 3, 2020, in San José (Costa Rica), Emmanuel González Alvarado, Rector of the National Technical University (UTN), and David Obando Abraham, President of the Multilateral Chamber of Commerce and Cooperation Israel Ibero-America (now the Israel Ibero-America Chamber of Commerce) and Secretary General of the Costa Rica Support and Promotion Office (OSPCR), signed a framework cooperation agreement to jointly develop social-interest projects.

UTN is a Costa Rican public university focused on technical and technological training and on building ties with the productive sectors.

Participants in the signing of the agreement

The following people took part in the meeting on behalf of UTN and the Chamber:

  • Carlos Salas, Vice Rector for University Extension at UTN.
  • Julio César González Salazar, representative of UTN’s Technical Secretariat for Engagement with the Productive Sectors.
  • Luis Mauricio Díaz Díaz, the Chamber’s Regional Executive Director in Costa Rica.

Objectives of the agreement between UTN and the Chamber

The main objectives this agreement seeks to achieve include the following:

  1. To encourage the participation of Chamber members in UTN’s dual training programs.
  2. To jointly develop programs that enable the technological improvement of production systems and quality levels in the agricultural sector.
  3. To take part in international events that make it possible to showcase the patents and projects developed at UTN.
  4. To jointly create programs that help improve the educational tools currently used in the Costa Rican education system.

Dual training combines classroom learning with hands-on practice in companies, so the participation of Chamber members brings students closer to real productive environments.

Business, academic and technological ecosystems in Costa Rica

With this agreement, the Chamber, OSPCR and UTN seek to jointly create business, academic and technological ecosystems that improve the competitiveness of Costa Rican companies.

The Chamber will report on the main developments carried out under this agreement as they occur.
